Still working on getting everything setup while in Auckland. Today we didn't have much to do but wait, so we took the ferry from Auckland to Rangitoto Island, a volcano that sprung out of the sea 600 years ago. Really nice walk, although mostly uphill, Rangitoto is only a 25 minute ferry from the city, so you get great views from the summit. Also walked through some lava caves, really handy we brought headlamps!

Mt. Wellington
While meeting someone to see a used van, we had some time to kill so walked to the summit of Mount Wellington, one of many small dormant volcanoes in Auckland. A good leg workout, but only about a half hour walk to the top.

Spring has Sprung
After a long flight and a nice sunny day in downtown Vancouver between flights, we are finally in Auckland. Its springtime here so all the trees are budding, its been nice during the day but a little cool at night.
We are slowly getting things setup, while staying at the backpackers hostel in Parnell. We are a 20 min walk to downtown.
The main priority right now is to find a van, so I'm spending lots of time on trademe, the kiwi ebay. Of course we are taking some time to explore the city as well.
